Founded in 2012, Dawson Denim started by manufacturing garments in the UK from premium Japanese selvedge denim. In January 2025, we transitioned production to Japan, ensuring our products are now made at source with the same attention to quality and design.
From the very beginning, our focus has been on creating timeless, durable pieces that honour traditional workwear while embracing contemporary design. By moving production to Japan, we work directly with mills and makers who share our values of integrity, craftsmanship, and respect for denim as a fabric of substance.
Every garment we produce carries this philosophy: uncompromising quality, sustainable manufacturing, and a commitment to authenticity. Dawson Denim is not about fast fashion, but about building clothing that tells a story and stands the test of time.
As we evolved, we forged close partnerships with three esteemed mills in Japan—collectively boasting nearly 300 years of expertise—to weave our denim on traditional Imamura and Toyoda shuttle looms. Today, while our production is based in Japan, every garment is still hand-finished in our UK workshop, ensuring the integrity and craftsmanship remain true.
We use organic cotton and order only what is needed to minimise waste. All garments are cut from in-house developed patterns.
Beyond jeans, Dawson Denim offers a range of complementary clothing, incorporating hand-selected Japanese fabrics and timeless, understated designs. While inspired by historical workwear, our approach is never nostalgic—we create contemporary garments that pay homage to the past while being built for the future
At Dawson Denim, we believe in making things properly. No shortcuts, no compromises—just timeless garments built for a lifetime of wear.
