The Dawson x Cerrone vest. An elevated autumn staple born from our friendship with Leon Cerrone.

You’ll either know Leon from his stellar modeling, fantastic DJ sets, or his aesthetically pleasing Instagram which he has also utilized to raise awareness around men’s mental health. Leon has modeled our clothing for years and he’s a good pal of ours, so, in tandem with his new ventures with Scotland’s Kestin, we’ve worked on an exciting collaboration inspired by our shared passion for vintage clothing, British manufacturing, and Leon’s experience of working in London’s iconic Savile Row.

The Dawson x Cerrone vest is a versatile piece that draws influence from the North American camping boom of the 60s and 70s. Think Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom, The Deerhunter, Trail Mix, Winnebagos, Ford Broncos — escaping to the open wilderness in a simpler time. We wanted to create something that balanced this inspiration with our lived experiences in the sartorial world, and our creative process led us to take the waistcoat silhouette championed in Savile Row and splice it with the functional vests worn by campers, hikers, and fishermen in the 60s and 70s.
We chose to produce two different make-ups for the Dawson x Cerrone Vest. First up - the rinsed double indigo twill. This inky rendition of this multi-pocket vest comes with tonal buttons and a contrasting hit of our stalwart hand-woven indigo kasuri fabric in the gussets. For a more rugged look, we have the khaki version, made from deadstock British Milleraine waxed cotton. This edition is water-resistant thanks to the waxed finish, and comes with orange ripstop nylon in the gussets for a hit of contrast and functionality.

Both vests are constructed with a multi-pocket silhouette and come with a tonal reinforcing shoulder patch, hand-dyed British Corozo buttons, and a custom Dawson x Cerrone club patch. We designed this exclusive patch in-house with the same amateur-drawn naivety that is so often seen on mid-century souvenir and members' patches for an authentic and nostalgic touch.
